What is modesty?
Hello friends,
You have properly herd the word modesty before. But what does it mean and why is is important for Christians to dress modestly?
Those are all good questions and I will try to answer them as best I can...
First of all the Webster's dictionary defines Modesty, as an act or series of acts, consists in humble, unobtrusive deportment, as opposed to extreme boldness, forwardness, arrogance, presumption, audacity or impudence. Thus we say, the petitioner urged his claims with modesty; the speaker addressed the audience with modesty.
WHAAA will someone please define it in English?
1. Modesty is opposed to extreme boldness and presumption. Meaning your clothes should not be telling others that you are disobedient towards your parents and others that are in authority over you.
2. Modesty is humble. Meaning that your clothes should tell others that you obey those in
authority over you.
Now don't get me wrong I'm not saying that you should know what modesty is by those
definitions but I have some links that you can go to in order to find out what modesty looks
like.
Here is one way that we know that modesty looks like...
Me and my family are at the beach this week and we have not been seeing anything like what
is in this picture.
It is very sobering what women wear on the beach today.
The Bible even tells us the dress modestly....
1Ti 2:9 Likewise, I want women to adorn themselves with proper clothing, modestly and discreetly, not with braided hair and gold or pearls or costly garments,
The Bible clearly tell us that we should dress modestly and I think that it is time to take a stand for Jesus.
I hope that this link will encourage you...... Click here to read an insightful modesty survey.
Have a wonderful day....
Love and Prayers,

~ In females, modesty has the like character as in males; but the word is used also as synonymous with chastity, or purity of manners. In this sense, modesty results from purity of mind, or from the fear of disgrace and ignominy fortified by education and principle. Unaffected modesty is the sweetest charm of female excellence, the richest gem in the diadem of their honor.
